This is me: Senior Prom circa 1991. Yes, I had it all – The big hair, the parents who were all too happy to take a million pictures of their little girl, and of course the shoulder pads. I wanted to look like a princess at Senior Prom – yet I think that I looked more like an 18 year old bride.

Now that the real deal is in the near future, I do not want to wear white. I need something a bit more… me!

I turned to ardent LGBTQ supporter and Enchanted Bridal Owner Candi Peterson for some advice. Candi told me that when starting your search for the perfect dress, there is a store for everyone. It’s always about the designers and she said that you should look for the stores that will cater to your budget and your taste. Candi has a retail store, but also has an eBay store where customers can bid on gorgeous dresses as low as $20!

Candi also pointed me to some designers who create some fun alternatives to the basic white dress. I spoke with Amanda Sheronas from designer, Alfred Angelo and she sent me some suggestions from their 2010 bridal collection.

Another option that you may consider is to also seek out new designers. Etsy is a great resource for new and alternative designers.
